Stonehenge and Salisbury - England

On our way back to London, we stopped at Stonehenge. We did not regret our visit of the site. Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument that was built 5000 years ago. Hard to believe that such gigantic stones weighting tons could be moved in this early time. Many different theories have been forward about who built the site, when and for what purpose. It is still unclear today.

Here is how they may have moved the stones

No, we were not alone on the site :))

Salisbury cathedral is a leading example of Early English architecture. The cathedral was completed in only 38 years, 1220-1258. It has the tallest church spire in the UK and the largest cloister. It is an architectural "tour de force", so complex and beautiful! One of the most beautiful cathedrals we have seen so far (and we have seen many).

What a wonderful week-end we had. England IS beautiful.
