Moving to South West Estonia: Parnu - the Estonian beach town

Parnu seemed to be a town not to miss. It is THE beach town in Estonia, located on the coast of Parnu Bay, an inlet of the golf of Livonia in the Baltic Sea. It is a popular summer holiday resort for Finns and Russians. Tourists seem to appreciate its large sandy beaches and shallow warm water.
So here we are, driving from Tartu to Parnu. We had a nice picnic along the way.

Parnu beach - we arrived a little too late in the season to see it at its best. The sand beach is beautiful, although it takes most of the day to get out to the point where you can swim. It is a good beach for kids. The buildings are outdated, soviet era architecture, which produces a rather somber mood for this resort.

The large green garbage bins found all over the beach did not enhance the esthetics of the beach.

Still we had a very good stay here in a hotel with beautiful spas and swimming pools. One of the highlights ended up being a wonderful dinner. The food was OUTSTANDING.

The next morning we took a walk from our hotel to the Baylands. The view from the elevated walkway over the Bayland was beautiful.

And finally we visited the town of Parnu before driving to the island of Sareema.
