Quito, lively capital of Ecuador

Quito, the capital of Ecuador sits at an altitude of 2,850 m in the Andes. It is a colonial center founded in the 16th century, with well preserved churches/cathedral, examples of the "baroque school of Quito". The city is really lively, warm and relaxed. We had a chance to visit the presidential palace, the museum Casa del Alabado showing pre columbian art, and walked on the Equator at El Medio del Mundo, located 30 kilometers outside of Quito.

Only 2$ and temporary!

Roses with altitude (grown at 2800-3000m)! Did you know that.....Ecuador is one of the world's biggest flower exporter (73% of the flowers are roses)

Every Monday, the President or Vice President of Ecuador appears on the "Palacio del Gobierno" balcony at the changing of the guards. We had a chance to see the Vice President when we were in Quito (the President was out of the country). Note that the vice president is second to the right of the person with a white hat on the balcony.

Rain during a walking tour of the city with a group of people

After the rain, a fantastic hair cut by the most talented hairdresser ever encountered....juggling between razor, scissor and more. The result was breathtaking. Judge for yourself :)) Not a hair longer than the other, the mustache is perfectly cut and the neck is free of hair growth. All this for 3$ + a generous tip :)) Now we are ready to visit the presidential palace.
