After Mindo, we went by bus to Banos via Quito. Unfortunately for us that day, Glenn had his wallet stollen from his pants pocket in the crowded bus. It could have been worse....we lost two credit cards and 40$, Lukily, we still had two credit cards working after the theft. We had our US bank sent a replacement card to a hotel in Peru. It took 10 days to get it, and we were set again :))
Banos is a small town at the entrance of the Amazone basin. It is known for its hot springs and dramatic waterfalls. Here are a few pictures of the town and its surrounding.

Food quarter

Someone here has a good sense of humor
What is roasting below ? An Ecuadorian delicacy - the "cuy" also known as guinea pig! I tried it. Good.
Far, far, far away....

Our hostel
Nice Breakfast place
En route to see the waterfalls!

Alors ca, c'est une belle cascade!

Hiking in the Amazon to reach the Casa del Arbol - a tough but rewarding hike - Wonderful view up there after 3hrs of hiking uphill. We stopped at the mirador de lavirgen on the way to admire the view over the town.
We passed in front of many green houses along the way - this is an active agricultural area where tomatoes, peppers, squash, corn and other vegetables are grown.
Here we are at Casa del Arbol - we made it :))
Back to town by bus

Leaving Banos to go back to Quito....still by bus
Beautiful volcan Cotopaxi
This concludes our traveling through Ecuador
Next stop....Peru!
